Pass the Love campaign launches in Cleveland with 2,500 families
Starting in June, Cleveland families began to pick up healthy meal kits created by Genuine Foods to support the ‘Pass the Love w/ Waffles + Mochi’ campaign from Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA), in collaboration with PHA Honorary Chair Michelle Obama and Higher Ground Productions.
During the month of June, 2,500 families in the Cleveland area will receive more than 120,000 healthy meals distributed across nine different Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) distribution sites.
Cleveland is the first city for the Pass the Love campaign rollout, but for Genuine Foods’ Founder and CEO Jeff Mills, the inclusion of this city in PHA's campaign is particularly special.
“I grew up with food insecurity in Northeast Ohio, so returning with the ‘Pass the Love’ campaign is incredibly meaningful to me," says Jeff, who was born and raised in nearby Sandusky. "It means a lot that we can join forces with PHA and come into the area and provide families in need with real, genuine food and amazing recipes for meals to warm their families’ hearts and bellies. I hope the folks who receive these meal kits in Cleveland find joy and comfort in cooking all of these special recipes."
The campaign aims to raise awareness about healthy eating and food equity while working to meet its goal of distributing 1 million meals to families in need across the country. Cleveland has the highest rate of child poverty in the nation. Additional partner cities will be announced throughout the summer, with Atlanta launching mid-June.
