RCC's Market On Main Reopens With New Partner
ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — Hudson Market on Main has reopened in Nyack, with Rockland Community College's new partner, Genuine Foods, as the operator.
Market on Main at 5 North Broadway had a soft opening Wednesday, college officials said. It will have a grand opening celebration in October.
Established in late 2019, the market was known for its innovative menu featuring ingredients sourced from Hudson Valley vendors including the Nyack Farmers Market.
The cafe is part of RCC's Hospitality & Culinary Arts Center, which was created in response to the growth in restaurants and tourism in the Mid-Hudson Valley and the resulting need for more qualified workers, and which offers fast-track culinary arts degrees and certificate programs, plus workforce-ready training for veterans and under-served populations.
It provided real-world learning opportunities for students while also serving the community and visitors to Nyack — both as an eatery and through cooking classes for the community.
The cafe closed in January when FLIK Hospitality Group, which runs the student cafe and Field House concessions on the college's main campus, pulled out of the effort. SEE: RCC's Hudson On Main Market Closes.
The new partner, Genuine Foods, is a food service company working with K-12 schools, higher education, seniors and communities nationwide.
“We’re excited about this new collaboration with Genuine Foods. Their mission aligns with the mission of the Market and with RCC – to be a true community partner to the residents of Rockland County. The Market is also a great opportunity for our students, and a fantastic addition to the Nyack food scene, offering great options for lunch, dinner, and catering right on Main Street,” RCC Vice President of Operations Beth Coyle said in an announcement.
The Market is a Taste NY vendor. Taste NY highlights the quality, diversity, and economic impact of food and beverages grown, produced, or processed in New York State and aims to create new opportunities for producers through events, retail locations, and partnerships.
Its new menu will feature ingredients sourced from the Hudson Valley, including lots of scrumptious salads with a seasonal selection of soup. Sandwich options will include:
