Genuine Foods Helping to Fight Food Insecurity in Louisiana

Genuine Foods launched our emergency feeding initiative to help feed over 50,000 people a day in food insecure parishes throughout Louisiana.

LOUISIANA, June 10, 2020 -- When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the state of Louisiana reached out to qualified partners to help alleviate food insecurity during the school closure period. Genuine Foods quickly sprung into action, hiring local staff and swiftly serving hundreds of thousands of meals a week to parishes throughout Louisiana.

Genuine Foods is currently servicing out of two warehouses delivering over 100,000 meal kits a week. From the program’s launch in April they have now served over 4,000,000 meals to date. Their presence is going strong leading into the school year, where Genuine Foods will take over several charter schools in the area making it their seventh major market to date.
